With a view from Sebnitz into the Kirnitzschtal valley

The tour starts at the National Park railway station in Sebnitz and from there follows the red line through the town, across the market square of Sebnitz and from there out of the town. After a crisp climb in the forest, you will come across the so-called Panorama Trail - marked with a yellow dot. Follow this path for a short distance to the left until you reach a bench on a hill above a meadow, from where you have a wonderful view of the rear of Saxon Switzerland and quite a distance further.

Then go back along the path - follow the panorama path for a while - until a path branches off to the left, marked with a yellow line, towards Knechtsbach-Kinitzschtal. Follow this path until you reach Knechtsbachtal, where a signpost with a green dot points the way to Ottendorf.

From Ottendorf, follow the green line in the direction of Großstein and Felsenmühle over the Endlerkuppe to the Großstein lookout point (AP).

After visiting the Großstein, walk back a short distance and then continue to the right down into the Kinitzschtal valley to the Felsenmühle.

At the Felsenmühle, cross the Kirnitzsch River and follow the trail markings with the red line first into the Kleiner Zschand and from there further to the right through the Ferkelschlüchte to the Kuhstall.

At the Kuhstall, we recommend a short circular walk up the Himmelsleiter (ladder to heaven) to the Kuhstall plateau and across it back to the restaurant. If you have a little more time and want to experience more, you can explore the Schneiderloch and other interesting places further back.

From the Kuhstall, follow the red dot back down into the Kinitzschtal valley to the Lichtenhainer waterfall, where the tour ends and you can let it come to an end.

Despite the moderate profile of the trail, sturdy shoes are recommended, as well as sufficient food and drink along the way, despite the many opportunities to stop for refreshments.

In winter and spring, it is also advisable to always have a light with you so that you do not feel uncomfortable in the forest when darkness falls early and you still reach your destination safely.

To get there, we recommend first taking the S-Bahn from Dresden to Bad Schandau and then the U28 National Park Railway from Bad Schandau National Park Station to Sebnitz.

For the return journey, we recommend either taking the Kirnitzschtalbahn from the Lichtenhain Waterfall to the spa gardens in Bad Schandau and then the number 241 bus back to Bad Schandau station, or taking the bus from the Lichtenhain Waterfall back to the station. If you still want to stroll through Bad Schandau, you can also take the ferry from Bad Schandau back to the National Park railway station - so there are many possibilities for the way back... ;-)
