Start at the hiking parking lot in Schlettau on Frohnauer Weg. From here, follow the Alte Buchholzer Straße steeply uphill towards Firstenweg or Fürstenweg. After a few meters along the Firstenweg, you will find numerous benches where you can take a short breather with a view of Schlettau and the Scheibenberg. Continue along the Firstenweg until you leave it at Crottendorf and turn off towards Liebenstein. Once there, you have a wonderful view of Crottendorf and the Markersbach upper reservoir (see tip). From Liebenstein, the route leads across wide meadows back towards Walthersdorf. The last section leads back to Schlettau via the Kirchsteig trail.

By car via the B101 coming from Aue/Schwarzenberg. You can reach Schlettau by highway via the A72, exit Stollberg-West, follow the S258 to Scheibenberg and take the second exit at the traffic circle in the direction of Schlettau.
The bus stop "Schlettau - Mark" is just a few meters from the start and finish point of the circular walk.
There are various parking lots for hikers in Schlettau. The wall parking lot on Frohnauer Weg/B101 is conveniently located.
At Liebenstein, a geological outcrop rises up towards the southwest. From here, you have a wonderful view of Crottendorf and the Hundsmarter, where the upper reservoir of the Markersbach pumped-storage power station is located. It's best to pack a blanket and enjoy a snack on the rocks.
