Traumschleifchen Fischbacher Kupferspuren

The hike starts at the Historic Copper Mine Fischbach.

Tip: bring enough time to also visit the copper mine. There is a lot of exciting things to discover here.

Kupfi-Mouse shows you the way on the Traumschleifchen with her small signs.

The Traumschleifchen partly runs together with the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, the Traumschleife Kupfer-Jaspis-Pfad, and the Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrim Trail.

First, follow the road (K30) on a path beside the street. After about 300 meters, you cross the K30. You cross the Hosenbach on a bridge.

You will see the information board "What is Copper". Geisti and Kupfi-Mouse tell you more about this metal at this station. Then follow the path to the right. Soon you can see the sign "Dry stone wall". Look around carefully here. What can you discover?

Continue on the path to learn more about the "Neue Hoffnung" mine. The path now ascends and you will soon arrive at the waterfall. There is a nice resting place here if you want to take a break.

Enough energy gathered? There is another ascent to follow. Along the way, you will learn what wood was used for in mining. You will soon reach the highest point of the route. Now the path leads further to the opencast mine. It is worth taking a short break here.

The path goes uphill again for a bit. You have now completed all the climbs of the Traumschleifchen. Hildegard von Bingen tells you more about her life in the Middle Ages at the next station. Continue downhill and look at the next information board about the tools the miners used.

On your way back, you will also discover a hidden mine and learn more about the mining village Fischbach with its copper mine.
Then turn right, again over the bridge crossing the Hosenbach. On the well-known access path, you return to the copper mine. In the copper manor, you can now refresh yourself with delicacies and experience the mine underground.

Sturdy hiking boots are essential!

The descent to the end of the circular route is relatively steep; caution is advised.
Hiking boots are absolutely necessary, sun protection and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Arrival by car / motorcycle / motorhome

The community of Fischbach is located near the point where the B270, coming from Kaiserslautern, meets the B41, which runs from Bingen to Saarbrücken.

The B270 and B41 connect Fischbach with the federal highway network.

The nearest connections to federal highways are the A61 - junction "Nahetal" (Bad Kreuznach), the A62 - exit Birkenfeld, and the A6 - exit Kaiserslautern East.

Arrival by train

The mine is very easily reached by train. The regional station Fischbach-Weierbach is located on the Mainz-Saarbrücken railway line. From there, continue by bus line 899 (on-call bus) to the copper mine. Current timetables www.rnn.info
