BARDONECCHIA Grange Chaffaux and Grange Vernets

Reach the bridge located between Via Modane and Via Pra d’la Cumba in Borgo Vecchio, cross it and take the flat path that runs along the Rio Merdovine. After passing the stable, continue until you reach a notice board dedicated to tadpoles and hemp, located near a water pool. At the fork, keep left, cross the wooden footbridge, reach the next fork and continue to the right until you reach the mule track that ascends to the Grange Chaffaux. At the granges is the Chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena and Santa Caterina d'Alessandria with historic exterior frescoes.

To close the loop, briefly retrace your steps and take the left turn to the Grange Vernets and then descend along the dirt road that returns to the starting point.

Trekking shoes

By car:

- A32 motorway Turin - Bardonecchia, Bardonecchia exit

- State Road 24: Turin - Oulx and then State Road 335: Oulx - Bardonecchia

Once you reach Bardonecchia, head towards Borgovecchio and reach the Madonna delle Grazie Bridge located between Via Tur d'Amun and Via Pra d'la Cumba.

By train:

- line Turin Porta Nuova - Bardonecchia

Once you reach Bardonecchia:

- from Hotel La Betulla (100 m from the train station) take the free shuttle of Circular 2 to Piazza Suspize and continue on foot to the intersection between Via Modane and Via Cavour;

- from Hotel La Betulla (100 m from the train station) take the free shuttle of Line 4 to the intersection between Via Modane and Via Cavour.

At the intersection between Via Tur d'Amun and Via Pra d'la Cumba beyond the Madonna delle Grazie Bridge there is a dirt parking area where it is possible to park.

In the characteristic alpine hamlet of Chaffaux, notice the ancient Chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena and Santa Caterina d'Alessandria which features, both inside and outside, fine frescoes.
