Weesen - Quinten - Walenstadt

We leave the quay area of Weesen and hike along the main road, passing the Catholic Flikirche, to the hamlet of Fli. The path to Betlis, sometimes hard above the water level, is carved into rock and equipped with tunnels. In the Talegg forest, a path branches off to the right to the Betliser Bay with a fire pit. We continue hiking to Höfli - Strahlegg, where we enjoy the magnificent panoramic view. Opposite lie Filzbach and Obstalden on the Kerenzerberg, above them Mürtschenstock, Nüenchamm, and Firzstock. A detour to the former Roman watchtower Strahlegg from 1386 is worthwhile. After Vorderbetlis, we visit the impressive Seerenbach waterfalls (variant A). From 600 m height, the water cascades down in several stages. From a viewing platform, we observe a second water spectacle. From a cave in the gorge wall, especially after heavy rain or snowmelt, huge amounts of water from the Rinquelle shoot over the 48 m high rock face into the Seerenbach. Back on the hiking trail, we cross the deep Seerenbach ravine on a narrow footbridge, then the slightly ascending path leads into the Seerenwald and down a partly exposed rock path to Quinten, one of the few still car-free places in Switzerland. The mild climate allows figs, lemons, sweet chestnuts, and excellent wine to ripen. On a wide, beautifully laid out path, we continue hiking along the lake, cross the delta of the Aubach in Quinten Au, and reach Josen. The path now climbs steeply to the farms of Garadur and Engen. Opposite lies the Flumserberg holiday area; to the east, the Seeztal opens with Flums and Mels. Passing through a small piece of forest again, then we go through the clearing of Brüeli to Frachtina. Through the lime tree forest, we reach the shore of Lake Walen and the "garrison town" of Walenstadt.
