CERESSOU HIKE

From the parking lot, turn left onto boulevard Jules-Ferry. A few meters further on, opposite impasse de Camplieure, turn right down a narrow street. Cross avenue Frédéric-Mistral, continue along rue du Couvent to the end (on your left, you'll see the listed church of Saint-Hyppolyte). Turn right into chemin de l'Église, then right into rue de la Calade, then left into rue du Capelan-Mort. Turn left into rue des Artisans, right into rue de la Victoire (opposite the town hall). Turn left up Rue de l'Horloge, continue along Promenade du Château (overlooking the Céressou) and down Rue Paul-Bert. Turn left down boulevard de la République, left into rue de la Traversette, left again into rue des Lavandières, which bends at right-angles and leads into rue Jean-Moulin, which you turn left into to leave the village in the direction of Céressou. Walk along a road lined with vines. Before the left-hand bend (pine trees), leave the road on the right and immediately turn left under the telephone line. Cross the Boyne stream. Continue on a small road bordered by a cedar hedge, then between vineyards.

Before the right-hand bend (calvary, junction with D 174), leave the road and climb left along a sunken path surrounded by walls, through the vines. At an olive grove, continue uphill under oak trees to reach the Céressou plan (207 m) (view of the wine-growing plain, the seaside, Agde and Sète on a clear day). Turn left and continue along the balcony path (view of the village of Fontès). Further on, turn left and start downhill. Cross a path, go down the shaded path opposite and, further down, continue on a track between the vines as far as the invert (separation from the Vignes et Volcans de Fontès circuit).

Continue left on the tarmac track. Turn right, ford the River Boyne and continue straight ahead on Avenue de la Boyne. Turn left into rue de la Calade (D 124), then immediately right into rue des Romarins. Drive along the cemetery, down the rue des Amandiers to the left of the church forecourt, straight on into the chemin de l'Église, then turn right into the rue du Couvent to follow the same route as on the outward journey to the cellar parking lot.
