Essen-Kettwig to Mülheim-Selbeck
We begin at the 550-year old Rindersberger Mill (Rindersberger Mühle).
The path heads rapidly into the forest and we encounter fallen trees, narrow forest paths and rustling streams.
Lots of ups and downs.
The neanderland STEIG passes the romantic Landsberg Castle (Schloss), which has belonged to the Thyssen family for more than a hundred years.
The remains of the extensive forest park are still visible.
We pass by fields and paddocks; at the end of a mini-canyon, we reach the Mintarder Berg district of Ratingen.
Then we just hop over the motorway and arrive in Selbeck, south of Mülheim/Ruhr.
The path runs beside cool streams, through deep forests, and over windy hills; depending on the time of year and the weather, you may need to take a coat.
The narrow paths can be slippery in places, particularly in wet weather.
Be careful at the edges of steep faces, keep your distance.
