On weekends, stopping at the beer garden in the castle courtyard is a pleasure for the whole family. Shady woods cool even on hot days. The climb is rewarded with a fantastic view. Old castle walls and towers invite exploration. Nearby (to the east) there is a large adventure playground with picnic areas. In the Plesse Forest, many bike routes towards Ebergötzen, Hünstollenturm, Nikolausberg are signposted. The Friedwald and the Human Rights Trail by Amnesty International also begin east of the parking lot above the castle.
The bike route leads from Göttingen via the fast cycleway to the North Uni, continuing north along Helleweg to Bovenden, via the cycle path along K1 via Eddigehausen to Plesse Castle - the return journey goes past the TV tower in the middle of the forest over the plateau of Deppoldshausen and the university experimental farm back to the city (North Uni), then back along the fast cycleway to the Theaterplatz in Göttingen. On mild summer evenings, you can then enjoy a radler in various pubs in the old town.
