Bormio 360 Trekking - Stage 5 - Mineral Path

The stage begins at Alpe Zandilla, reachable from Monte in 40 minutes on foot, and continues along a panoramic path. The first part is a series of hairpin turns uphill reaching 2,300 meters above sea level at the foot of the Zandilla pass. This area is rich in military trenches from the Great War. The long descent starts with a gap made by the military between the rocks and a spectacular staircase, overlooking the Val Pola landslide until reaching the huts of Alt. From here the forest road leads to the Morelli Hospital of Sondalo, an extraordinary example of architectural, landscape, and urban planning achievement unique in Italy and Europe, Sommacologna and the Palazzetto dello Sport of Sondalo. Along this stage there are no refreshment points, it is recommended to bring appropriate clothing and a packed lunch.
