Premium trail P6 Heldrastein - Walkable Green Belt

From the small village of Heldra in the farthest tip of Hesse, your path leads up (partly via the Barbarossa stair climb) to the Heldrastein (503m), rightly known as the king of the Werra valley. Its exposed position offers amazing panoramic views of the green landscape of the Werra valley and the blue ribbon of the Werra at your feet. Directly behind a protective fence, the rock face drops almost vertically up to 62 m, bordered by Hüneburg and Dreiherrenstein. From the Tower of Unity, you have a magnificent panoramic view of the Hessian-Thuringian border area. Here at the top, you are at a historic site, as the Heldrastein was a restricted area for 40 years. The diverse animal and plant life offers a special experience on this circular hike, not only at the top of the mountain but also at the foot of Heldrastein in the Werra floodplain and along the Green Belt. A section of the Explorer Route Heldrastein coincides with the Werra Castle Trail (X5).
