After the district town of Eschwege, the Werra flows further west through the gravel pit landscape past the Meinhardsee recreational center. Near Jestädt, the river again approaches the northern wooded ridges of the Meinhard to turn completely north after the Jestädter Weinberg nature reserve. In the here narrower Werra Valley in the Hessian-Thuringian mountain region, the Werra meanders in large bends naturally past the small idyllic villages of Albungen (9.5 km) and Kleinvach (13.5 km). After about 19.5 km, you reach the spa town of Bad Sooden-Allendorf. The "Pearl in the Werra Valley" offers wellness, health, and relaxation in the WerratalTherme as a brine spa. The historic half-timbered town center testifies to the former wealth of the salt-salers' town. At Bad Sooden-Allendorf, the Werra is dammed at 4 weirs and divided into a right (at Allendorf) and left (towards Sooden) Werra arm. At Weir 2 (actually the 3rd weir) in front of the old Werra bridge, the dam step can be portaged; in front of Weir 3 (at the Franzrasen motorhome parking), there is a self-service lock and portage landing sites.
About 2.5 km after Bad Sooden-Allendorf, this paddle stage ends at the Camping Oasis Wahlhausen, in a village that lies directly on the border with Thuringia in the Eichsfeld.
