Starting point of the paddle route either from the Imatra Spa and harbor area or alternatively from Ukonniemi at the Imatra Lapinkävijät canoe shed. You can leave your car in the paved parking lot near the shed, but camping or lighting fires near the shed is not allowed. If the start and return point are at Ukonniemi, you need to circle Lammassaari both ways. From the harbor or spa side, the trip is about 5 km shorter. Kytönen Island is a nature reserve without an official landing place. Landing is allowed under the Everyman’s Rights. On Oritsaari, there is an island church of Imatra parish, with a pier and a lean-to shelter. The total paddling distance is about 20 km.
From Suikkalansalmi, the paddler can, if desired, continue towards Haapavesi and even circle the entire Äitsaari.

If you start the route from the Imatra Lapinkävijät canoe shed, you first circle Lammassaari and then paddle past the Lempukka beach. The journey continues along the shore to Malonsalmi, where you pass under a small wooden bridge. After passing under the bridge, you paddle along the shores of Malonsaari and Mikonsaari islands and continue towards Kytönen. The island of Kytönen is circled counterclockwise, and you paddle between Suikkalanniemi and Oritsaari. If desired, the paddler can detour to Suikkalansalmi and from there continue further north, even around the entire Äitsaari.
After circling Oritsaari, continue south and pass a small islet called Ingonkirkko. Paddle between Pieni Korpisaari and Majasaari and return to the starting point either at Lammassaari or the Imatra Lapinkävijät canoe shed.
Dress appropriately for the trip and wear sturdy shoes. It is recommended to also bring first aid supplies, rainwear, spare clothes, and enough snacks and drinks. Remember to wear a life jacket on the water.
TAKE CARE OF SAFETY! Imatra marina is busy with boat traffic. Behind Haapasaari and Mikonsaari is a deep route where large cargo ships travel from the Saimaa Canal to the Kaukopää factories. The paddler must give way to other water traffic. Also watch out for waves caused by large ships! If you want to continue your paddle trip towards Vuoksi and Niskalampi, beware of strong currents at the mouth of Vuoksi.
