Immenstadt Road Bike Loop - Around Lake Niedersonthofner

The route starts at the Viehmarktplatz in Immenstadt and follows the bike path toward Bühl. At the Hotel Rothenfels, the route continues straight ahead and uphill, passing a lookout point—a perfect spot for a short break after the first climb, with a beautiful view of the Großer Alpsee. The route then follows the main road steadily uphill, past Zaumberg and on toward Missen.

Once you’ve conquered the climb, you’ll come to a right turn onto the less-traveled road to Knottenried. Here, just past the village, the“Pausebänkle” bench invites you to recover from the climb and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Allgäu Alps.

The route continues to Reute via quiet side roads and then downhill to Niedersonthofen. There, take a detour to Lake Niedersonthofen—perfect for cooling off on hot days or taking a short break at the kiosk.

The route then circles the lake, passing additional swimming spots, and continues to Martinszell. Ride through the village and keep left toward Bruck. This takes you along more beautiful side roads at the foot of the Rottachberg to Freidorf, Untermaiselstein, and finally back to Immenstadt. To wrap up the ride, the town center offers plenty of opportunities to wind down your road bike tour in comfort... for example, with a delicious iced coffee. Have fun!
