The AugenBlick-Runde Karlsruhe Rittnert leads from the Turmberg over the countless steps of the Hexenstäffele into the vineyards of Durlach, which we cross with a view of the Rhine plain. Over the Rittnertstraße it goes out of the city into the open fields. In the forest, the path passes the Lothar trail and a wildlife enclosure. We leave the forest and head to the AugenBlick, where we enjoy the view of the nearby Northern Black Forest. The varied route continues through field and forest to the Rittnerthof. Passing the Schützenhaus, we return to the starting point at the Turmberg.
Further information on the AugenBlick-Runde Karlsruhe Rittnert can be found here.
The AugenBlick-Runde Karlsruhe Rittnert starts at the Turmberg. Therefore, travel by public transport with the Turmberg funicular is recommended. You reach the vineyards of Durlach via the Hexenstäffele, which offer a wonderful view. A detour around the steps for prams is also signposted. The route leads through Karlsruhe Durlach to the Eisenhafengrund. There, the path crosses the road and leads past the Schönstatt Chapel through fields and meadows to the forest. Alternatively, for one part of the way, you can switch to the Lothar trail, which runs parallel to the AugenBlick-Runde. In the forest, the Waldspielplatz WaldSpiel and the Waldlehrpfad WaldWelt invite you to linger. From the forest edge, the path leads directly to the AugenBlick, from where you can enjoy the view over the Northern Black Forest. Over fields and meadows, you head northeast again and cross the road at the Sumpfweg hiking car park. Through the forest, the round trip ascends slightly to the Rittnertwald parking lot at the forest edge. At the Rittnerthof, a rose garden and the Pfinztalp gate invite you to pause briefly before the route continues northwest. The Schützenhaus and a forest playground invite you to stop for food or rest before you return to the starting point at the Turmberg.
If you arrive by car, enter Reichardtstraße 33, 76227 Karlsruhe (mountain station) as your destination; the parking lot at Turmberg is signposted.
The Turmberg above Karlsruhe-Durlach is ideally accessible by public transport. The funicular takes you directly from the Durlach Turmberg tram stop (Tram 1, KVV) up to the starting point of the AugenBlick-Runde.
In Karlsruhe urban flair combines with the beautiful landscape of the Middle/North Black Forest Nature Park. On one side, the first German UNESCO City of Media Arts offers an impressive cultural program. A highlight is the ZKM | Center for Art and Media, which was selected among the ten best museums in the world.
Just a few minutes away, the elevated districts Grünwettersbach, Hohenwettersbach, Palmbach, Stupferich, and Wolfartsweier invite you to cycle, hike, stroll, and relax in magnificent forests with rare plants or in the orchards with a fantastic view over the Rhine plain.
