The valley inhabitants of today's district Mitteltal once led a life of hardship in this area rather unfavored by nature. However, as forest farmers, they largely had their freedom and were allowed to use the extensive forests for themselves.
Thus, forest farms arose at numerous springs. Over time, additional houses were built at these farms. The resulting groups of buildings are called parcels in the upper Murgtal. Mitteltal originally consisted of 40 such parcels. This settlement pattern still creates the characteristic landscape image here in the valley today.

At the Tourist Information of Mitteltal, we begin our three-part experience trail hike "Village of Springs and Parcels".
36 information boards about the culture and natural history of the immediate surroundings of Mitteltal await us on this cultural round.
On the first section, about 5 km long, you hike the eleven stations of the so-called sunny side of the village. You leave the village and go uphill through open terrain, which offers a wonderful view of the landscape. We walk past the edge of the forest before returning to Mitteltal.
The second section, about 3 km long with its nine stations, begins at the Murg bridge. It first goes along the Murg river before you reach the forest after a steep uphill section.
Back at the Murg bridge, we set off for the last and longest section, during which you walk a lot along the water. We traverse both the Bad and the Good Ellbach valley, where the stream winds romantically. Passing the Ellbach hut, we finally return to the village and the Tourist Information.
The hiking information center offers, among other things, hiking poles and hiking backpacks for rent. More information at www.baiersbronn.de/verleih
