Schwackenreuter Lakes - pure nature, a place to linger!
The Schwackenreuter Lakes are pure nature. Wild life shows the power of nature. A diverse flora and fauna has developed there from what the gravel extraction has wonderfully shaped and left to us. This is a place to linger. Here you can let your soul unwind.
In the middle of the nature reserve, there is a bathing lake. Access is open, swimming is free of charge but at your own risk. Enjoy bathing in a natural lake. Numerous water birds have become accustomed to the presence of humans. However, it is always advisable to keep a respectful distance. A trip to our Schwackenreute lake district is always worthwhile, so also all year round.

At the old Schwackenreute station, you ride toward the large yellow house. There you turn onto the small paved path running parallel to the B 313. Before you reach the forest, orient yourself to the right and follow the initially paved path that later crosses the railway tracks in a right curve. At the upcoming fork, keep left of the gravel pit lake. Before the next lake, turn right to be able to ride left at the following crossroads toward the forest. In the forest, keep going straight and at the end of the forest take the second left into the forest again. At the next intersection, orient yourself right and at the following fork turn right again. You finally reach a paved road and turn left. After crossing the tracks, turn right and cycle parallel to the railway line past a larger gravel pit lake. At a small hut, orient yourself left and ride between the lakes. Then it goes first right, then immediately left again over a small bridge. At the next intersection, keep right on the paved road and cross the K 8216. The long-distance cycling route "Swabian Alb" also runs here. You ride into the opposite street and follow it straight for a while until you reach another paved road. There you turn right, ride over a small bridge, cross the tracks, and after an underpass reach the village of Wackershofen. At the fork, turn left. At the yield sign, a quaint chapel is opposite; keep right (village street), as well as at the following fork. You reach the K 8271, cross it, and shortly afterwards reach Sauldorf. In the village, continue straight to the main road, where you turn right. You pass two churches and then turn left into Höfeweg. At a fork with a stone cross, keep right and then ride straight for a while. After crossing a small bridge, you reach another fork with a stone cross. There turn left. Then follow the signs toward Schwackenreute. You now pass the larger gravel pit lake on the left and the smaller one on the right. You cross the railway tracks, keep left, and at the next paved road also left. This brings you back to the old Schwackenreute station, the starting point of the route.
