Long-distance hiking trail Romantic Road in the district of Tauberbischofsheim

At the exit of Steinbach towards Wenkheim, briefly follow ST 2297. Then immediately turn left onto a foot and cycle path. You cross the state border and reach a paved lane, where you continue left towards a stream, which you follow downstream. In Wenkheim, you are directed back to the left valley side and soon reach a crossing street, which you follow briefly to the right, passing the Green Tree inn. Just after that, turn left into Obertorstraße, which leads south out of the village. Passing the New Mill and the oil and saw mill, you approach Werbachhausen, which you cross without changing valley side (the church remains up left, the stream right). Just south of the village end, you cross a lane. Now take a left onto a farm track. The track ascends slightly from the junction into the left valley slope of the Welzbach valley. After a beautiful wayside cross, a field path remains to the left; in the forest it merges into a forest road, which you follow to the right. Soon on the right below through the bright deciduous forest the Liebfrauenbrunn Chapel can be seen. From the junction with a paved lane, it goes downhill; the north slope (and sunny slope!) of the Tauber valley is reached. Shortly after the forest edge, turn left down a green strip between fields. At the bottom, turn right onto a dirt road, which you follow right until it joins the L506. 250 m further left a farm track begins, which you only follow briefly, for immediately in the first curve to the right begins an inconspicuous old cart path (take the upper of the two branches here starting, the lower ends blindly).
The following path section is a great introduction to the Tauber valley: old, somewhat overgrown terraces between abandoned vineyards, views of the Tauber valley and the opposite hill country, and finally even a newly created vineyard from where you can see Impfingen. The old, rarely used path becomes a driveway and leads into Impfingen as Tauberhel street onto the cross street Lange Steig. 10 m to the left, the continuation runs. It merges into Hohe Straße (left above the chapel with stations of the cross coming up from the village on the right). Shortly down right and immediately left onto Asternweg. At the next junction left and immediately after right into Nelkenweg. This soon describes a sharp right curve, where we go left between two houses onto a footpath and a staircase leading down to a round turning area. Beyond, again between two houses and then left onto a field path. Beautiful view of the Tauber valley!
The near stage destination Tauberbischofsheim comes into view. Under a high-voltage mast we reach a fork in the path. We go right and curve downhill. The path joins a farm track that curves downhill to the right to the L 508. Shortly before reaching it, a cart path branches left, running parallel to the road. At the following traffic light junction, a few meters left, cross the street and continue beyond on an industrial street. At the next street crossing (Alte Wertheimer Straße) beyond right, passing a allotment garden area, until a pedestrian crossing. There cross the street, turn right and go over the following pedestrian bridge. Immediately after, left along the Tauber until the nearby Tauber bridge. Before it, turn right. Cross the intersection towards the city center (traffic light right) and go straight to the market square. Turn right and stand on the other side of the square in front of the town hall with the tourist information of Tauberbischofsheim.
