What strikes you is the space - round, open, and potentially infinite when your gaze is directed upwards. Then there's the shape of the Dolomites surrounding you, transforming into figures. And as you approach Fuciade, the wood. Gnomes, craftsmanship, chapels, altars, and "tabià", the ancient hay barns. Everything here, crafted from forest wood, was essential for the mountain people to live the alpine life and shape their existence within nature. As they journey on, children can envision magical worlds filled with fairies and giants, while adults dream of a life away from city walls, where living feels truly possible. The Marmolada group in the foreground and the Pale di San Martino on the horizon amplify the imagination. The Fuciade walk is possible at any time of the year. All the more reason to come back and enjoy the scents and colours that shine differently every season.

From Moena, by car or by ski bus, reach the San Pellegrino Pass. Descend for about 200 meters on the opposite side, and at the location of a ski trail overpass, turn left onto the paved road that leads to the parking area near the Miralago hotel. From here, a comfortable, mostly flat forest road leads to the Fuciade basin, a spectacular limestone amphitheatre dominated by majestic peaks. A paradisiacal place, dotted with "tabià", largely rebuilt after the First World War.
The itinerary ends at Fuciade Rifugio. The return follows the same route, on foot or with a sled pulled by horses.
