Winter hiking Wildhaus-Gamplüt circular route

The path leads from the large Chuchitobel parking lot a few meters along the road and then steadily ascends the hillside. Over meadows, past light forests, you reach the Gamplüt plateau at the foot of the Wildhaus Schofberg. The path then climbs up to the Alp Fros viewpoint, where the view opens down into the Rhine valley. Before the route descends back into the valley, we pass the Gamplüt mountain inn a second time on the return journey. Those who wish can shorten the hike: the world’s first solar-powered gondola runs from here down to the valley. Alternatively, sledges can be rented.

Day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, comfortable and waterproof winter shoes or sturdy hiking boots, possibly crampons and gaiters, warm and weatherproof clothing in layers, hat/headband, scarf, gloves, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, thermos flask with hot drink, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, possibly headlamp, maps, possibly telescopic poles

Do not leave the marked winter hiking trail. There is an avalanche risk from the Wildhaus Schofberg. 

By train to Nesslau Neu St. Johann station and then by bus to Wildhaus village.

From the Rhine valley by train to Buchs SG station and then by bus to Wildhaus Lisighaus.

The large Chuchitobel parking lot is subject to fees.
