The ruins of Castle Werdenfels are evidence of 788 years of history. Today, only ruins remain of the once mighty Castle Werdenfels, from which the Werdenfelser Land region of Upper Bavaria received its name. However, the mighty construction still shows the erstwhile size and splendour of the castle. It is assumed that the castle dates back to 1219.

Follow the traces of old counts and lords along the castle information trail. The 4 km information trail is an exciting trip into the past. 15 boards provide interesting information on the history of the castle and its inhabitants (only in German). If you get hungry after the 1.5-hour trip, we would like to recommend stopping by at the Berggasthof Pflegersee or the Werdenfelser Hütte, where delicious meals are offered.

Did you know? The information path is also perfect for children, as all the trails are well maintained and comfortable to walk on.
